About the Artist

Elizabeth A Johnson
Colored Pencil Artist
Painting everyday items that don't go together can cause you to view them in new ways. Or, create something different.
I want people to look at my work and ask "What is that?"
Most of that I draw comes from my house or lanai. They are things I collected or grew.
I have drawn as long as I remember. Learning the intricacies of colored pencil didn't happen until after I retired. It started with a color pencil workshop at an art center followed by six years of lessons at another with one of the country's most renowned colored pencil artist. I joined the Colored Pencil Society of America and it's local chapter, took workshops and attended retreats to hone my craft.
The magic of colored pencils is that you can make your work look like a watercolor or an oil painting depending on the brand of pencil and paper or other ground you use. I love getting the details that eluded me when I used pastels or oils.
Each new piece is another experiment.
